Chessington World of Adventures

The Grain was pleased to be asked by Merlin Entertainments to construct the primary entrance signage at Chessington World of Adventures, to mark the opening of the new Safari and Azteca hotels.

As this is a perfect example of what cam be achieved by blending the different options we are able to offer.

By using our blasted wood signs and 3D signs together. Substantial texture can be created between the different levels of the sign.

The main entrance sign for Chessington weighed over a ton and was 4.5 meters wide by 4 meters high. The sign is illuminated by in-ground halogen up lights for night time visibility.

The Brief: Design a prominent road side sign structure, in wood, to promote the entrance to Chessington World of Adventures. This is also to indicated for the entrace for Parking as well as the latest attractions for “Explorer Glamping” and “Go Ape”

Large wooden posts with Douglas Fir sandblasted panels and 3dimentional sign overlays
Material
The overlays were made from HDU and Weston Red Cedar
Finish
Acrylic paint to overlays. Water based painted wood
